Chorio
House
Chorio refers to an exclusive holiday villa with extensive facilities for entertaining and hosting the guests, including two guest houses, a maid’s house and three swimming pools. The holiday villa is located into a steep rocky slope in a plot 8760m2 on the Southeast coast of the island of Antiparos, with breathtaking views to the island of Paros and many other islands of Cyclades.
The project consists of a series of volumes, incorporating seamlessly with the natural landscape. It is developed with the incorporation of the land as the main architectural element, drawing inspiration from traditional Cycladic architecture. Utilizing the concept of caves, the construction is embedded into the terrain, with the land extending over the roofs. Dry-stone walling and long walls create subterranean living spaces that blend effortlessly with the environment, while exterior pathways and living areas lie in front.
Spanning 780m², Chorio’s high-end living spaces merge with the surrounding landscape. The house offers a dynamic interaction between indoor and outdoor splendor as a constant exchange of the landscape and the view. Access to Chorio is via an exterior staircase at the back, leading to the main house’s common areas which immediately opens to the spectacular view, while the parabolic pergola offers comfortable protected space for all day outdoor living. Two master bedrooms flank the common areas, and an internal staircase descends to the recreational and secondary spaces of the house. the 25-meter swimming pool, which drifting the landscape, aligns with the sea horizon.
At the lower levels house two guest residences with similar layouts, ensuring comfort and privacy for visitors. Patios and skylights enhance the sense of openness, bringing natural light and ventilation indoors. The landscape of Chorio and vegetation create the illusion of minimal intervention, preserving the natural beauty of the site.
