Muse
House

Antiparos ,GR
2019

The renovation of a private house within a beach house complex extends into the landscape, creating a harmonious architectural unity that respects the Cycladic architecture. The project aims to cater to the diverse needs of the couple and their friends on vacation. Situated on the southeastern coast of Antiparos Island in the Cyclades, Muse House opens up towards the sea, offering stunning views, while the rear façade ensures privacy and features the main entrance.

Two sheltered courtyards have been designed to support all-day outdoor living. A low stone wall encloses and ‘hug’ the house achieving a smooth entrance to the building via a stepped path. The wall that becomes a courtyard, protected from the strong north winds, extends the kitchen into the landscape.

A central common space is created as an extension of the outside allowing the landscape to form a dynamic presence. The private areas of the house – bedrooms & bathrooms – are situated on the eastern side of the building, each with its own private terrace.

The house features an accessible roof, offering an open-air space ideal for sunbathing and enjoying breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Along the house, a swimming pool enhances the idyllic landscape, integrating the various elements into a cohesive whole. Subtle modifications and the enhancement of existing vegetation aim to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape.
