House

The KO house is situated in the upper part of a plot overlooking the sea, at the Agios Sostis area in Kythnos island. The house was designed and built respecting the special characteristics of its surrounding landscape and using the island’s traditional building techniques.  Maintaining the existing flora, we restructure the site’s terracing and organize the house in volumes. The landscape is organized in platforms, ramps and stairs, which serve the slight transition between the different levels of the volumes. This condition ensures that each outdoor terrace has privacy even if the volumes are adjoining.  The main access area, which is located at the rear, is through an abstract line adapting to the landscape. The two guest houses are situated at a lower level that the main house. The design is based on the southeast orientation framing the unobstructed view to the sea. Through the openings either door or windows, the house opens generously to the outside, providing spacious areas foe entertaining friends or relaxing in complete privacy all day long. KO house is a space where all the residents will relax and enjoy the sunset views as the house and its pool are perfectly aligned with the setting summer sun. Each space can be both private and with constant access to the pool and the outdoor spaces.
